President Uhuru performed dismally in Uganda in a trip many local Ugandans referred to as ‘home-coming’.
Across Uganda, there has been incessant rumours that Jomo Kenyatta
was a son to a Ugandan. Soon after Uhuru became President, this folklore
gained new currency.
Facing an election nightmare, President Yoweri Museveni, now in power
for over three decades, invited President Uhuru, a hugely popular
figure in Uganda to shore up his ratings against a resurgent opposition.
However, in a speech that has left more to be desired, Uhuru’s hosts
failed to give even a single standing ovation, neither are the reviews
in Uganda local media very comforting.
Uhuru speech sounded more like that made to some rag tag economic
forums, he talked about roads, Railways and trade. He bashed the West by
blaming colonialism >>> all these were not received well as
Ugandan politicians were eager to hear Uhuru call for a free and fair
election next year election.
